Oh my goodness – I’m so excited to share today’s news!
I’ve been hinting for a while now that I’ve been busy working on a secret project. Today I can finally reveal that it is…
(drumroll please)
…a BOOK!
The book is called “The 7-Day Room Makeover”, and as the title suggests, I am going to be teaching you how to make over one room in your house in just seven days!
Why seven days?
Let me explain.
As my regular readers know, I’ve worked “on the side” as an interior decorator for over a decade now. In that time, I’ve completed over one hundred homes – choosing colours and finishes for new builds, furnishing display homes and units, and helping owners decorate their homes. I’ve won some awards and definitely had a lot of fun along the way.
Throughout this time, the one thing I’ve heard from women over and over again is that they feel stuck when it comes to decorating their own home.
There are many reasons for this. I ran an informal survey on my Facebook page to ask women to share their biggest decorating struggles, and here are some of the answers you guys shared:
“I struggle to visualise what the finished project will look like.”
“I have trouble unifying all the rooms to one style.”
“Picking paint colours.”
“Trying to make it look like I didn’t just put random crap everywhere.”
“No money.”
“Starting!”
Can you identify with any of those?
For an awful lot of people, the idea of decorating feels paralysing. The reasons are different, but the end result is the same:
You’re living in a house you don’t particularly love, but you don’t know how to change it.
Wow. Kinda sucks, right?
And yet it’s so, so common.
A lot of people feel so stuck, they don’t even attempt to decorate.
Others try but can’t figure out why it isn’t working. So in the end they just put up with things being the way they are – often for years and years on end. Their home doesn’t really feel like “them”, and it’s certainly not beautiful or inspiring. But they have no idea how to fix it.
Gosh, how I wish I could come into each of your homes in person and help you transform it. I would love that so much!
Unfortunately, despite my repeated prayers for a few extra days in each week and a right-hand clone, there’s still only one of me, so I’m afraid I won’t be knocking on your door anytime soon.
But what I CAN do is give you the exact tools you need to transform your home on your own.
And that, my friends, is even better.
I want to empower women to get unstuck. I’m passionate about teaching women that decorating is not just for professionals, it’s not just for the rich, it’s not just for people who were somehow born more creative and visionary than everyone else.
YOU (yes, you!) can learn how to decorate.
That’s why I wrote this book. It’s going to be releasing at the end of this month, and it is absolutely PACKED with practical know-how that is going to help you master every facet of decorating like a pro. Like anything else, decorating is a skill that can be learned. And it’s going to be my honour to teach you, without any of the jargon, in simple language that is going to switch on so many lightbulbs inside your brain that you could get mistaken for a Christmas tree.
What’s more (this is the exciting part!!) learning how to decorate is not going to be a long and painful process. By the end of the book you will be fully equipped to makeover an entire room in your house in just ONE WEEK.
So… why the seven days?
Because we’re all time-poor, so dammit, we’re going to work with what we have, and kick that excuse to the curb once and for all.
Because decorating does NOT have to be difficult, drawn-out, and time-consuming.
Because I want you to TAKE ACTION, and (finally!!) get unstuck.
Because it’s high time you, my deserving friend, find yourself living in a home you ABSOLUTELY LOVE.
As a bit of a taster of what is to come, I’m offering a completely free course called “How to Decorate“. Hundreds of you have already taken the course – here’s some feedback:
“I am SOOOO loving this course! You are making what I thought was abstract, way more concrete. With a formula, I can do this! Thanks for making sense of what was sort of confusing to me before, and for speaking in plain English… you make it all sound so clear and simple. You are a great teacher, I tell you! Really! You have a gift!” – Aimmee
I’ve created a new page of info about the course, so to learn more or to sign up, just click on through!
In even more exciting news, next week I’m going to be undertaking my very own seven-day room makeover to share with you. I’ll be taking my bland and boring Master bedroom and completely transforming it in ONE WEEK – just to prove it’s entirely possible, even with four kids, a baby, a book to finish writing, and a blog! Oh yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing how I pull this one off just as much as you are. Wish me luck! LOL!
I can’t wait to share… so stay tuned, friends!
Wishing you a house full of sunshine,
xo Karen
